In the anime, he is vothered by water, although it won't kill him.

Appearance[]

Aku-Aku is a small purple blob with only one eye and a large blue jagged mouth in his original form. Once he eats a Keronian, he turns into a Keronian similar to the one he ate except a more demonic-like appearance, purple stomach, and a yellow jagged collar. The symbol on his forehead is the same symbols of the Keronians he has eaten on top of a staff-like symbol. The symbol on his stomach however, resembles his eye in his original form.

Personality[]

Aku-Aku is a boisterous entity obsessed with causing mischief and misery. Likewise, it is very arrogant and sadistic,

Story (Anime)[]

Aku-Aku are evil spirits that love to play pranks. When a diver tampered with a moai statue that acted as its seal, Aku-Aku escaped, easily defeating Alisa and her father afterwards.

Later, Keroro, Fuyuki, and the others encounter Aku-Aku, with Aku-Aku attacking them relentlessly. Despite holding their own, Keroro's platoonmates are defeated one after another, with Aku-Aku consuming Kururu's knowledge, Tamama's power, Dororo's skills and Giroro's determination.

Empowered, Aku-Aku decides to take over Pekopon, starting with destroying all the Moai on Easter Island. Just then, it starts to rain, causing it to retreat until the weather clears.

The next day, Aku-Aku plans to start again, when Keroro arrives before it. Though initially dismissing Keroro once more, Aku-Aku is goaded by him into attacking. Upon seeing the Moai statues glow, Aku-Aku realizes Fuyuki's plan, forcing Giroro and the others to attack as well.

Aku-Aku wards off his attackers, enclosing himself and Keroro in a dome. Mocking Keroro, Aku-Aku then attacks him, causing a huge explosion. Distraught at this sight, Keroro's friends watch as Aku-Aku appears before them.

In sadistic glee, Aku-Aku disrespects Keroro to their faces, jeering at his "worthlessness". Extremely angered, Giroro roars in rage, while the others fall into despair. However, Iana realizes that Keroro is still alive, saved by Io and converted into the Moai statue Fuyuki held.

Renewed with hope, Keroro's friends attack Aku-Aku and buy enough time for Fuyuki to revive Keroro. Successfully revived as Makemake's vessel, Keroro stops Aku-Aku's plans, shocking the latter.

Saving Giroro and the others, Keroro fights Aku-Aku, thrashing him. In denial, Aku-Aku retaliates, claiming that he cannot be beaten. Keroro then reveals his true plan, luring Aku-Aku into a trap. Attacked by a concentrated energy by the Moai, Aku-Aku is severely weakened.

Severely weakened but still prominent, Aku-Aku appears before the ground, attempting to devour the de-powered Keroro's potential. Just then, Aku-Aku is grabbed by Alisa's father and eaten.

Etymology[]

Aku-Aku's name is a direct reference to the Aku-Aku from Easter Island's Rapa Nui mythology mythology. They were ancestor spirits that although seen as guardian deities, also could take trickster and even devilish aspects.[1]

Trivia[]

  • Aku-Aku shares several traits with Ketsubakuchiku, including the ability to shift into anything.
  • Considering how he "consumed" Keroro's platoonmates, then later attempted to do the same to Keroro, Aku-Aku's final fate is extremely karmic.
