Giroro (ギロロ ) is a main character from the series Keroro Gunso. He is ranked as the corporal (伍長 gochou) [RANKS] in the Keron Army.
Character and Appearance
Giroro is the single unit mobile infantry of the Keroro Platoon. He has proven to be very strong and resilient, and has been training to be a soldier nearly his entire life.
He is a red adult Keronian with a scar on the left side of his face. He has slanted, large eyes and wears a maroon hat of the same style as most Keronians. His symbol is a small yellow skull. In lieu of a belly symbol, he wears a belt with a rectangular buckle like a bandolier, set diagonally from his left shoulder to his right hip. Said belt contains a picture of Natsumi Hinata.
As a young Keronian, Giroro carried his skull symbol on his hat and belly and was not afflicted with the scar across his face.
Personality
Giroro is the most soldier-like among his platoon, with the Keron Army holding him in high regards. However, he is actually quite prone to moments of silliness, especially when involving Natsumi.
As a child, Giroro usually served as the voice of reason for Keroro and Dororo/Zeroro, while still being naive in certain matters. Furthermore, he openly idolized his big brother, trusting him explicitly.
As an adult, Giroro is more simple-minded and violent, especially in early stories. However, he is still a good person at heart and does what he can to help everyone, especially his friends.
Due to his crudeness and short-fuse, Giroro often lashes out at others when faced with incompetence, especially towards fellow soldiers. Hilariously, Giroro's own vices can cause him to act just as incompetent as well, something both Keroro and the Narrator mockingly point out.
In his daily life, Giroro takes up residency at a small tent in the backyard, polishing his weapons. He has shown a deep love for trains, and a strong fear of sea cucumbers and ghosts. Along with the other members of the Keroro Platoon, Giroro is afraid of Ketsubakuchiku.
History
Childhood
For more information, see Chibi Giroro
Giroro was a decidedly atypical child, training vigorously for the army. Often, he would save Keroro and Dororo/Zeroro from near fatal disasters, brought upon by their shenanigans. In his spare time, Giroro also loved playing with toy trains, idolizing train conductors.
After his military training, he gained a clear 'war' mindset, treating social matters akin to a battle. In some undisclosed matter, he and Keroro clashed at some point, leading to Giroro's scar.[2][3]
Life with the Hinata family
Giroro, upon arrival on Pekopon, first gathered information on the Hinata family before finding Keroro and entering the home by exploding through the TV.
He set traps all over the house, but was easily defeated by Natsumi who evaded every single one without a scratch. Giroro, impressed by Natsumi's battle skills ended up living in a tent in their backyard.
A while afterwards, he rescues a small cat with pale pink (almost white) fur from the rain, who stays with him in tent to this day.
Powers and weaknesses
Giroro possesses great marksmanship skills, with sufficient prowess in close-combat. When pushed, he can even rival Dororo himself, matching him toe-to-toe on several occasions. From his military training, Giroro is also a weapons expert, capable of dismantling firearms in seconds.
Without his belt, Giroro loses most of his abilities and is utterly inept as a soldier. Furthermore, Giroro's temper and affection for Natsumi serve as a major weakness, as well as his phobias and narrow viewpoint. Finally, he has a poor handle on things unrelated to warfare, such as drawing art.
Weapons
Giroro wields a large variety of weapons and is known as a renowned guerrilla combatant. He is well-known and has connections within the Keron Army thanks to his veteran-ship and his prowess.
Much of the weapons he has been using resemble ones that are used by mobile suits of the Gundam franchise, especially the RX-78. He also has a few mechas under his disposal— both flying and large type. He can summon any weapon at any given time, which is part of Keron technology. His Giroro Guided Missiles are his trademark in the first movie.

Relationships
Giroro's Father
Ever since Giroro was young, he wanted to be an excellent Keronian army soldier, just like his father. As an adult, Giroro treats him the same way as he treats Garuru.
Garuru
Giroro's older brother. Giroro idolizes him, if somewhat annoyed by Garuru's straight-laced nature as fellow adults.
In his childhood, Giroro called Garuru "Nii-Chan, short for onii-san (兄さん,お兄さん both literally meaning Big Brother)", trusting him explicitly.
Once officially becoming a Keron soldier, Giroro has dropped the honorific (though he has slipped up once or twice), attempting to treat Garuru as his rival.[1] Similarly, he became somewhat intimidated by Garuru's presence, despite Garuru's apparent affection for Giroro.
Keroro
Keroro is among Giroro's oldest friends. As Keroro's second-in-command, Giroro is exasperated by his laziness, even among their platoonmates. In response, Keroro normally points out Giroro's own flaws as a subordinate, such as a lack of critical thinking. Despite this, the two regularly team-up in missions and social events, with Kiko Katoyama seeing the two as close.
Dororo
Alongside Keroro, Dororo is Giroro's oldest friend. Notably, both Giroro and Dororo hold mutual respect towards one another as soldiers, teaming up flawlessly in battle. However, the two also tend to clash over certain matters, especially over how to succeed in invading Pekopon. Nonetheless, the two will always make up in the end, laughing off skirmishes as though nothing happened.
Pururu
Like his friends, Giroro had a crush on Pururu as children. As adults, Giroro has since grown out of any romantic feelings for Pururu, while still treating her with reasonable respect. Due to his crude nature though, Giroro can be somewhat insensitive towards Pururu at times, earning Angol Mois' wrath at one point.
Natsumi Hinata
Giroro has a passionate crush on the young girl, of which Natsumi is normally unaware of. Regardless, Natsumi treats him much nicer than she does toward Keroro, so long as Giroro does not anger her.
Giroro also gets very jealous when Natsumi shows affection for others, such as Koyuki Azumaya.
Tamama
Giroro treats Tamama as his junior, while Tamama's respect for him varies between each story.
Kururu
Among his platoonmates, Giroro is obviously the least fond of Kururu, brought upon by the latter's mean-spirited pranks. However, Giroro still acknowledges Kururu from time to time, and will save him from serious harm when needed.
Kururu often chooses Giroro as a testing subject in later seasons, much to Giroro's anger and embarrassment. Disturbingly, Kururu will sometimes show a twisted sense of affection for Giroro, possibly as a means to unnerve the latter.
Neko
Giroro took in Neko (Miss Furbottom in the Funimation dub) from the rain and also gave her food. Neko has since remained Giroro's pet and friend. Giroro states that Neko is always close to him, but he doesn't mind.[1]
Koyuki Azumaya
Giroro seems to be jealous of Natsumi's and Koyuki's relationship, and he views Koyuki as a threat to his chance (however nonexistent it may be) at being Natsumi's partner. Koyuki does not appear to share these feelings, however.
